Originally, as a group we were exploring the concept of having each box contain a gift inspired by each of the realms for Clara to open on Christmas Morning and reminisce about her dream. I did a couple of sketches to explore this idea. Out of all of them my most favourite was the furthest to the right, a jewellery stand inspired by candy sticks and the north pole. I thought I could have jewellery pieces hanging from the stand once again inspired by Victorian ideas. I had other ideas such as a 12 tiered sweet creation inspired by the 12 days of Christmas and also a zoetrope with a scene involving sweets. But I thought the jewellery stand idea had the most potential.

However, in the end we did not go for the gift idea and decided to have the interior of our boxes inspired by the layering in Victorian puppet set. This led us to the discovery of layered paper box art. We decided that this was the route we wanted to be inspired by for the interior of our boxes as we thought it was more unique and also suited our situation of having limited resources within the COVID situation. I then drew two sketches inspired by this new idea; one more abstract and one scenic.

I tried to make models of both of these designs experimenting with layer; however, the more scenic one was so intricate that it kept falling apart, making the abstract one to the left more effective as a layered paper box art piece.
