When making the boxes, we thought it would be good to have a combination of scenic and abstract designs, mine being a abstract one. To figure out the layers I wanted for my design I decided to make a prototype. I found this very useful later on in the project when drawing each layer up.

I then brought me design to life using illustrator and then planned a colour scheme for each layer. Reflecting on this I wish now that I had used different colours to highlight the design better. This was highlighted to me in the presentation.

I then went onto print all the layers I had drawn up on and cut them out by hand. In retrospect I wish I had used the laser cutter but at the time I did not feel confident enough to do so. I then went paint the layers. When doing this I used watercolours. This unfortunately led to the card starting to ripple. Some other people in my group used alternative paints which did not give off this effect. I wish I had done more testing. Lastly we all constructed the boxes together using pins and wood glue. This proved to be a very effective technique.
