When doing the development for this project, we did not have a lot of time so I had to make decisions really quickly. I found which was a bit difficult in the way that I did not feel I had time to necessarily experiment but also nice because you just made a decision and you decide to stick with it.
I developed the room firstly through doing some quick sketches and then from I used Sketch Up to build the foundation of the room. I did not have time to do a detailed Sketch Up model but also knew that some of the details I wanted to portray would not be possible on this software and could be used in my visuals so I used it more as a tool for the outline of my visuals.
I found sketch a really useful as it had a lot of built in aspects. It allowed me to think more logically about what would actually be in the room for example the radiator. It also helped with scale, particularly with children's furnisher in comparison to adult furniture. I decided to build the window myself within it, because I can quite find the right style but I did a bit of research into 1970s council housing windows and I found this model to be the most beneficial design wise because it allows her to jump through the window in a transition.
