Georgian Collectables Tech Drawing

Writer's picture: Ally McEnhillAlly McEnhill

This is the first time I've ever done plans and elevation for a project. I found it quite difficult to do especially the shoe design and trying to make sure those measurements were done but this is again another example of why doing sketch a model was such a useful thing because everything was already in scale I could she take the measurement straight from that.

Since then I have also realised that you can take the SketchUp out of isometric view and see it as straight on. This would have been very useful to have known but at least now I can use it in the next project.

I found the symmetry of my design to be both a blessing and a curse for it had to be even on both sides but then trying to make curves symmetrical is very difficult. Looking back, I think I also need to add more detail as to where what the materials are in a notes column. Another feature I would like to have tried was maybe doing a strip of colour. I seen this in some technical drawings and I think the really useful because it gives you quick insight into the aesthetic.
