For this assignment, all components were pre-cut and we really tried to explore the joining and finishing processes with wood.

We were able to use a hand held power tool which allowed a hole to be drilled to be drilled vertically into the piece of wood, to enable a screw to be drilled to make a perpendicular joint. This tool was relatively easily to use and was successful on allowing the edge of the box to be constructed.

The next part of the box making process involved using a nail gun to attach the bottom face of the box to the edges. I really enjoyed this tool as it was quite therapeutic once you got used to the sound.

As well as learning different joining techniques, we were also able to use the laminate trimmer to create a bevelled finish on the edges of the box. This was one of the more challenging power tools we used as originally I found it difficult to keep the pressure consistent to allow for the bevel to be smooth.

Overall I found this experience very educational; however I am unsure whether I would feel comfortable using these tools again without a little guidance or watching a few more tutorials to reaffirm my knowledge.
