Our second session was more of an exploration in comparison to the first session which was more goal driven. In this session we really explored how to use the follow me tool in order to make more curvaceous 3D shapes. This was a very useful task to do; however, I did find it quite difficult to manoeuvre around at first and especially with the different axes. In comparison to the push and pull tool, it took longer to get to grips with but in my opinion was worth the wait.
I experimented with this tool firstly by creating pillars. I did this by first drawing the design I intended to be edge onto a vertical face, then I deleted the unrequired edges and followed this face using the follow me tool. We then also went onto experiment with making tubes by putting a face on the end of a line and following it down the line using the tool. Lastly we went onto learn how to enlarge a curtain intended for the previous studio we made. I can imagine this would be a useful skill to know when making sure all components of the model are to scale.
Overall, I found this session at your quite challenging but educational. By having no overall goal but doing little activities, it really allow me to explore the positives as well as the limits of this tool. I do think I need to practice using this tool more as it did take me a bit of time to get used to it but I'm excited to be able to incorporate the use of this tool within future models I make using SketchUp.
