For my vision board, I decided to choose production Into the Woods, as I knew this production previously and thought it would be an interesting one to try and explore on Photoshop. I wanted to try and use all of the skills that were demonstrated in the videos as well as any skills shown previously that I had yet to try such as layering colour to an image by adding a mask. I used in the background by layering an image of bark with the gradient effect through altering the opacity of the image. The gradient I decided to use was blue to very pale pink. This was inspired by the original Into the Woods poster used for the production as well as the yellow moon that I created through using the elliptical marquee tool.
A vital skill I learnt whilst doing this vision board was how to create and fill shapes on photoshop and the power of the layers ( when they are required and how to bring them forward or push back). I also really want to use the distort tool to try and experiment with the shadows of the trees. I this tool found it particularly effective as it really helped to create this eerie atmosphere which the woods do provide throughout the production.
Another skill I decided to incorporate within this and vision board was the cropping of images and then layering them on. Examples of this include the trees, the Wolf and Little Red Riding Hood. In order to do this I used multiple tools such as the auto auto selection tool as well as the brush tool to define the outline of the selection. I found these techniques really effective and quick as I had used these tools in previous tasks such as the Character Board. Through doing them again and again and again I became more confident and faster. This allowed me to see my progression with the software especially in this piece and made me more excited about the potential of more things I can learn and become more efficient with.
Overall, I think the effect betrayed is what I intended it to be in this vision board;
however, if I had more time and if I wanted to further develop this I think I would try and add more details to the trees using the brush tool or maybe add a proscenium arch with thorns and twisted silhouettes of trees again to really make this Woods feel like it was out to get the characters as well as the audience. As anything can happen in the woods.
